Hen Do in Nottingham

Nottingham's economy used to be based on lace-making and coal-mining, but those activities have almost entirely disappeared, making way for trendy new hangouts, restaurants, and pubs. The history is still front-and-centre, though, and you can feel it in everything from the monuments to the ghost walks - you can even visit the (allegedly) oldest pub in the country, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, where Crusaders apparently got their beers... Nottingham's independent spirit fits with its Robin Hood heritage, and these days there are lots of artsy, bohemian areas in town. Getting around the centre is easy on foot, and there's a good tram system on hand for that moment when walking gets less attractive.

What first?! Well, obviously, the Robin Hood statue is there for you to cozy up to - perfect for taking silly photos. From the town centre, you can enter the largest network of man-made underground caves in the country or tour through the Galleries of Justice to see old courtrooms and prison cells, and to learn about harsh punishments of the past. For more light-hearted diversions, the funky shopping at Hockley and the classy, indie shops along the Exchange Arcade are hard to beat. Or try a perfume-making class, some dancing practice to brush up your moves for the night to come/.

If you want to channel your inner outlaw, go quad-biking, paintballing, or tackle a ropes course in Sherwood Forest. Or, if you're really in the spirit of things, have a medieval tournament with your mates or hold an archery contest. White water rafting, canoeing, and sailing are all options, too, for more cooperative hen team bonding. And after all that, you can head to the salon for a makeover so you'll feel like the star you are when you step out at night.

Get the evening started off right with your very own rakish butler to serve the ladies drinks before you take down the town. At night, Nottingham lights up with buzzing pubs and swanky clubs, and with VIP entry and your own booth, your group will be the talk of the town. So whether you're in the mood to adventure through the woods or treat yourself like a Maid Marian for the weekend, Nottingham can take care of you!
