A Bristol hen do has it all: great shopping, great food, great drink, great scenery, great activities, and great people. We think you get the idea, it's pretty great. And everything from urban swank to country pub to laid-back cafe comes with plenty of local friendliness, and so many cute guys (with those accents!) that you won't want to go home… Well-known as a hen-friendly location, there's nothing you'll want that you can't get in this city. So put together your craziest checklist and get ready to get it done!
As England's 4th most popular destination, and even though it was badly damaged in WWII, the entire city has been redeveloped and is now considered one of the UK's most attractive cities for architecture, culture, and having a great time. You can see Brunel's SS Great Britain, built in 1843, down by the harbour, or check out the inexpensive and delicious tastes at the St. Nicholas Market in the old town area.
The music scene is huge in Bristol (this is Massive Attack's home base), and draws performers from all over the world, the underground scene is also really strong here. There are festivals on at all times of year, covering everything from hot air balloons to silent films to organic food.
There's tons to do in Bristol, it's not all mellow westerners and scrumpy, so you can find something for everyone. The scenic Bristol-to-Bath bike trail along a disused railway provides an amazing trek, and the return journey (with bike) on the train only takes 15 minutes. The Blue Reef Aquarium is a must-see if you have any interest in the life aquatic, featuring underwater gardens with everything from seahorses on the reefs to puffer fish.
There are cinemas, theatres, comedy clubs, or you can just wander around the harbour. That's if you're not out for a picnic or afternoon tea, enjoying a serious pampering at the spa, taking a themed dance class, learning to make your own chocolates or cocktails, or breezing about on go-karts or splashing down the waterpark like the full-grown women you are!
Drinking is an art here, so you'd better get ready to show off some skills. Strong ales, tasty ciders, and healthy portions will have everyone giddy and ready for the night ahead. Craft pubs are booming these days, so you won't have far to look to try the unique flavours of the countryside. Check out local chill spots like the Tobacco Factory, where you can drop in on all kinds of random activities (life drawing, markets, theatre) or the Grain Barge, literally a retired grain barge out on the water with an open-air deck perfect for lounging.
For the night, the city is your oyster, want to start with a special dinner, complete with sexy butler to fulfil your every request? Done. Care to follow with drinks and a show? Easy! Perhaps you're after the VIP treatment at the hottest clubs in Bristol? Or maybe some private karaoke with the girls? Either way, we've got you covered. And if you're in town on a Saturday, it would be a shame to miss the UK's greatest male strip show to give the hen a last taste of freedom.
