Mykonos has a genuinely strong activity lineup for hen groups — beyond the beach clubs, there's enough variety to keep the whole weekend feeling full without it ever becoming a schedule.
Boat trips and watersports: A private sailing or catamaran trip around the island is one of the most popular hen activities in Mykonos — a group of friends on a boat in the Aegean, stops at hidden coves for swimming, prosecco included, usually finishing in time for sunset drinks back in Chora. For groups who want something more active, jet ski hire off Paradise Beach is a brilliant morning session. Paddleboarding in the calmer bays (Ornos and Agios Ioannis are good spots) works well for a more relaxed water activity.
Cocktail masterclasses and wine experiences: Several bars and venues in Mykonos Town offer private cocktail-making sessions for hen groups — two hours of learning to make signature Mediterranean cocktails, usually followed by a lot of additional sampling. Greek wine and spirits tasting sessions (try local wines like Assyrtiko and Vinsanto alongside Mastic liqueur from Chios) are a growing trend for hen groups who want something more refined. Both types of session can be run at a private venue or as part of your accommodation if you're staying in a villa.
Beauty and wellness: Mykonos has a strong spa and beauty scene. Group spa sessions, pre-night-out hair and makeup styling, and massages are all well-catered for — particularly at the higher-end hotels and villa complexes. This works well as a late afternoon activity on day 2, between beach club and evening out. Mykonos Town exploration: The lanes of Chora are genuinely one of the most photogenic spots in the world — wandering through the whitewashed alleys, past bougainvillea and blue-domed churches, is an activity in itself. A guided walking tour of the town (windmills, Little Venice, the old port) takes around 2 hours and gives the group brilliant photos and enough context to navigate independently for the rest of the weekend. For the bride-to-be especially, it tends to feel like a proper travel experience rather than just another stag-do-but-for-women.
Mykonos nightlife for hen groups tends to be more varied and feel more curated than a standard "bar strip" destination — and that's part of its appeal.
Afternoon into evening — beach clubs: Paradise Beach is the main hub for groups who want DJ-driven beach club energy. Paradise Club runs afternoon sessions that drift seamlessly into early evening — sunbeds, cocktails, DJ sets, and a crowd that builds through the afternoon. Super Paradise Beach is the slightly more upscale alternative, with Jackie O' running sunset sessions that have a reputation for atmosphere. For hen groups who want something more exclusive, several of the northern beach clubs (Scorpios and Alemagou are the most talked-about) offer a more mellow, lounge-focused vibe with better food and exceptional sunset views.
Little Venice for sundowners: This is the must-do in Mykonos — the row of bar terraces built directly over the Aegean water, watching the sun go down over the windmills. Go between 7–9pm, when the light is right and it's still busy but not overwhelmingly crowded. Katerina's and Galleraki are the two best-positioned bars; book a table in advance in peak season. Cocktails are expensive (€16–€22) but the setting more than earns it.
Late night: For groups who want a dedicated club night, Babylon in Mykonos Town is excellent for hen groups — one of the most inclusive venues on the island, with a reputation for a fun, welcoming mixed crowd and a good DJ lineup. The Skandinavian Bar is the more accessible alternative — busy, friendly, reliably energetic. Most groups do a mix: beach club in the afternoon and early evening, Little Venice for sunset drinks and dinner, then club from midnight.
One important note: Everything in Mykonos starts late. Clubs don't fill until 1am, restaurants don't peak until 10pm. This is actually hen-group-friendly because it means the afternoon is genuinely free for activities or pool time — the pressure to be "out" from 7pm doesn't exist here.
Accommodation in Mykonos splits into three main types, and for hen groups, one of them is almost always the right answer.
Private villa: This is the Mykonos hen do sweet spot, particularly for groups of 8–16. Mykonos has an exceptional stock of private villas — private pool, outdoor dining, stunning views, and the ability to have a getting-ready space that feels like the weekend deserves. Split across 10 women, a well-located villa with a pool often comes in at the same cost per head as a mid-range hotel room. The added benefit is you can have the cocktail masterclass or the stylist come to you, do pre-drinks without navigating a hotel bar, and have a genuinely private space for the group throughout the weekend.
Boutique hotel in Chora: For groups who want to be in the heart of the town, within walking distance of the bars and restaurants, a boutique hotel in Mykonos Town is the second-best option. These range from stylish mid-range properties to genuinely exceptional design hotels. The trade-off is less private space, but the convenience factor is real.
Beach club hotel (Paradise Beach area): For groups whose priority is beach and nightlife over town experience, staying near Paradise Beach puts you closest to the main party venues. The accommodation here is less design-focused but very functional, and being able to walk from your room to the beach club without organising taxis has obvious appeal.
Fly into Mykonos Island National Airport (JMK) — the airport is small, convenient, and about 4km from Mykonos Town. In summer it gets very busy with peak-season flights, so booking accommodation and flights early (ideally 3–4 months ahead) is strongly advised for July and August.
Direct flights from the UK operate seasonally (May–October) with easyJet from London Gatwick, Jet2 from Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Edinburgh, and Birmingham, and TUI from multiple regional UK airports. Outside the summer season, connections run through Athens (a 45-minute domestic hop) — easy enough for a long weekend trip. Direct flight time from London is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes.
Transfers from the airport to accommodation are short — most hotels and villas send a driver, or we can include a private group transfer in your package. For groups with a lot of luggage (inevitable on a hen do), a private minibus is worth it.
Best time to visit: May, June, and September are ideal — warm (25–30°C), all beach clubs and venues operating, and meaningfully cheaper than the July–August peak. September in particular is beautiful in Mykonos — the season is winding down, it's less crowded, and the locals are more relaxed. For a hen party that wants the island experience without the absolute peak-season prices and crowds, September is often the best month in Europe.
Mykonos is a premium destination. It costs more than Prague, Albufeira, or Lisbon — but the experience is categorically different and groups who've done both consistently say the extra spend was worth it.

Day-to-day costs: cocktails in Chora run €16–€22; beach club drinks €10–€14; a full beach club afternoon with sunbed and drinks averages €80–€120pp. Restaurants in the town range from €20–€40 per head for a proper sit-down dinner. Mykonos is transparent about its prices — you won't be caught out, just plan for a slightly higher daily spend than a mainland European destination.

Day 1 — Arrive, Chora explore, Little Venice sunset
Fly in, transfer to villa or hotel. Freshen up and head to Mykonos Town mid-afternoon. Wander the lanes, stop for iced coffee, explore the windmills. Table at Katerina's or Galleraki in Little Venice for the sunset — book ahead. Dinner at one of the harbour restaurants. Cocktails in the town bars from 10pm; into Babylon or the Skandinavian Bar from midnight.
Day 2 — Morning activity, beach club afternoon, late night
Cocktail masterclass or private boat trip in the morning (both can be arranged to start at 10–11am). Lunch back at the villa or at a beachside spot. Paradise Beach or Super Paradise from 2pm — sunbeds, DJs, drinks, and the afternoon session that becomes the evening. Stay for the night if the energy is there, or head back to Chora for dinner first.
Day 3 — Spa or slow morning, lunch, fly home
Late start. Optional spa session or villa pool morning for the group. Long lunch in Chora — sit-down, good food, a few bottles of wine, goodbye-to-Mykonos energy. Transfer to the airport for the evening flight home. The group will all agree to come back.

The comparison almost every group making this decision comes back to. Both are established Mediterranean hen destinations at the premium end of the market — but they deliver quite different experiences.
Ibiza has the bigger brand, the world-famous clubs (O Beach, Amnesia, Pacha), and a hen party infrastructure that's been refined over decades. If your group's priority is a full-on club experience with internationally renowned venues and DJs, Ibiza has an edge. It's loud, it's big, and it delivers exactly what it promises.
Mykonos offers a more complete experience. The combination of genuinely stunning scenery, boutique accommodation, exceptional food, afternoon beach clubs, and late-night venues gives a Mykonos hen weekend more texture. Groups come back talking about the Little Venice sunset, the villa, the sailing day — not just the club night. For hen parties who want the party but also want it to feel like a proper holiday, Mykonos wins.
Cost-wise they're comparable in the mid-range tier, though Ibiza peak-season club nights push higher on entry prices. For groups travelling in September, Mykonos is often noticeably better value than Ibiza in the same period.
